Introduction

This site is simply an attempt to create a central information resource for "Downeaster" yachts. Most of the site content, to date, has been supplied by other people, Carmine Pizzariello, Gregory Smith, Paul Barradell, Scott Perkins, Ansley Sawyer, Michael Homsany, to name but a few.

Everyone is encouraged to use the Discussion Page (Click here), the only stupid question is the one you do not ask. Also, all advice is welcome, remember, "in the valley of the blind the one eyed man is King". This site belongs to the users, so use it!

This is not a "club" nor an attempt to reform the old "DE Cruising Club International", as I hold the Groucho Marks view that; "I would refuse to join a club that would have me as a member".

This is a voluntary, non commercial, informational source for Downeaster Yachts. Please try and contact other DE owners as the more of us who are prepared to exchange views, opinions etc., the better.

  1. Well I am refurbishing a DE 32 at the present time and would like to have a dialogue with any number of owners. How do I register as an owner and find other owners

    1. I have a friend, going sailing after a 30 year hiatus. He got the itch, bought a boat in the yard and is restoring it to sailing condition. He is 86 years old. It is a DE-32. Frank does not use the net nor does he know much about cell phones but he is a sailor and you can email him through me if you choose... Frank C/o David Bell dai_sca@yahoo.com

  2. Bill,
There are 3 or 4 new owners over at http://www.downeasteryachts.com that are doing refurbs on DE38's. I am also posting all the old information that was available on the web there. Most of what is here plus a bunch of other stuff. We are hoping to get a active user community going again.
