This site is simply an attempt to create a central information resource for "Downeaster" yachts. This is a voluntary, non commercial, informational source for Downeaster Yachts. Please try and contact other DE owners as the more of us who are prepared to exchange views, opinions etc., the better.
I have 1979 DE38. I just purchased it in September. I have a problem, or what may be a problem. During this past January while we were getting hammered with lots of rain and subfreezing temperatures, my compression post cracked from top to bottom--most likely water entered under the mast and then froze. Before I travel to the yard, I am trying to figure out whether or not the compression post is hollow alone or hollow with a pipe boxed in by teak.
ReplyDeleteDo you know whether or not there is a post within the 4x6 teak compression post?
Thank you for your time.
